It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas-Part I

Welcome to Christmas at Verde Farm. It’s been a busy month. We started decorating right after Thanksgiving and I still didn’t get everything done. However, I am pleased with the things we did accomplish. We used a lot of natural decorations this year such as pine, holly, magnolia, pine cones and honeysuckle vine, things we had growing on the farm. I love that look. So, you might want to put on some mittens or don a winter’s cap because we’re going outside to take in the Christmas season.

Fresh wreath on the back door with some added embellishments
We had a beautiful snow already and according to the weather report it looks as if a storm is headed our way. Early snows, especially in December, certainly ensure the Christmas spirit for us. It has been bitter cold this past week, but Friday saw an increase in temperatures which rolled into Saturday. The animals took advantage of the sunshine spreading out over the property, running, playing and eating, all excited about the coming holiday. We took advantage of the nice weather, as well, by getting outside and taking some pictures. From sun to snow, here we go.
Flower cart filled with pines and berries
Donkeys in the pasture enjoying the sun but ready for the snow
The animals gathering and talking about a Christmas party they are planning
The wagon heading home with a tree, packages and decorations
Santa's bag sits ready for the big night
Zephyr showing his tail feathers as he was excited about the decorations
A wreath with jingle bells next to the sled

Let’s look at some snowy shots.
The barn wearing its wreath
A view of the front porch
Primitive bench on the front porch with a little holiday cheer
We put fresh white pine garland around the french doors and adorned it with red and silver sparkly balls, red ribbon, and white lights.

A simple wreath on the kitchen window

Thanks for walking around the farm and taking in our outside holiday decorations.  We will share the inside with you on our next post.  Until then, enjoy decking the halls, baking, shopping and taking in the reason for this wonderful season.
Merry Christmas,

Absolutely beautiful! Oh, don't you love the Holiday decor? Sigh, I wish I could be surrounded by it longer. Everything seems so plain when it's gone.
We woke up to sleet this morning. The chickens were upset. They love snow, but go right back in the coop when it's rain or sleet.
Have a great week!

Oh Amy, thank you so much for the most wonderful walk today! I really enjoy your farm. Your decorations look so good! The animals are so fun, too. Love the simple wreath on the barn- and that barn is great. Everyone here has been putting up pole barns for years and the old wood barns are slipping away so quickly. I have been taking photos before they are all gone.
Stay warm and hug a donkey for me!
Hugs- Tete

Wow Amy, everything looks so lovely. You should make a coffee table book of your farm and the animals. I would be first in line to purchase one. You could have pictures of your springtime farm, summer farm and so on. Wouldn't that be so exciting. Well anyway, amazing job on decorating!!!

Amy, Just love the pictures. I can't believe the differnt critters you have all together in one spot. I just wonder if they are really planning a party? lol. Your little piece of heaven is just beautiful. We have gone from rain since last night to snow. They say 5-8 inches tonight. bummer. But today was wonderful anyway. Have a nice night.

Just love your wonderful blog! I have always loved peacocks and have been thinking about trying my hand at raising them........I just worry about the predators getting them. Do they roost like the chickens are do they just stay out in the trees? blessings, Kathleen

Everything looks so beautiful. You should make your own Christmas cards from pictures of your farm. It does look like something out of a storybook.

Your peacock is very pretty! And I love your barn as well.
And I absolutely love my Corgi. He IS the best dog in the world. He has soo much personality. My husband has never been a dog fan but Dudley is his buddy. He's the best pet ever! But I will warn you, they do shed! I sweep often, but he's totally worth it!

Hello Amy!
Your farm looks WONDERFUL with all it's critters and decorations...and I LOVE the pictures with the snow. I hope you have some on Christmas Eve/Day. I hope we're invited when the party date is set ;) I love your wagon...I'd love to find either a buckboard or an Amish carriage to put in our front pasture. Your garlands and wreaths are gorgeous! I'm planning on snipping some juniper bows one of these days...don't want to do it too soon or sure as fate we'll have 50 degree temps again! Enjoy your week and have fun getting your last minute preps done for the holidays. Take care Mini Me...Maura :)
